Welcome to the EuchreWP blog. I am the author of the EuchreWP Windows Phone app, which I first published in January, 2012. If you play EuchreWP and have comments, questions, criticisms, or anything else, please let me know. I am genuinely interested in learning more about what people like and dislike about the game, and your input could help shape what features are added next from the backlog.

NOTE: originally posted on February 6, 2012 in my personal blog, republished here, where only EuchreWP specific content will reside.

Early in January I released a Windows Phone 7 (WP7) Euchre game, which I named EuchreWP.  Last week I released an update from version 1.0 to 1.1, which contained some minor UI enhancements, and which also removed the ads from the game (the ads seemed to be causing problems with the game under certain circumstances, so until I can sort out exactly what the interactions are, and more importantly, reliably reproduce a couple of key things, the ads are out).

Today I submitted a bug fix release for an issue that turned out to be present from the first version.  Sometimes things like updates will introduce new bugs, so I suspected my recent update, but it was not the culprit in this case.

There will be more new releases; enhancements under consideration are:

1) Make the AI players' aggressiveness configurable, including the ability to introduce a certain amount of variability (i.e. randomness) around the AI hand evaluation logic

2) Make further refinements to the AI for some specific scenarios.

3) Allow configuration of the speed of play to make it faster.  Currently there is a slight pause introduced in the AI logic in order to make it a little more natural, and to allow the human player to have a chance to read the AI players' statuses as they make decisions.

4) Log wins and losses for games played

5) Create a leaderboard where win/loss records can be viewed by others around the world

6) Allow "open" hands, where all players' cards are visible.  If this is implemented, AI players also would have visibility to others' hands, in order to keep it fair and not just be an advantage to the human player.

7) Remove an extra button click in a couple of scenarios where the human player has to click to acknowledge a behavior and then click again to initiate play.

8) Return to using advertising in the game; the game still will be free of charge, but if ad revenue can be made without the ads interfering with the game, it makes sense to do so.

9) Requests have been made to make the game multiplayer, i.e. playable against human players.  This would be a fantastic enhancement to make, but must be done very carefully given the problem with connectivity.  Mobile devices tend to be connected almost all the time, but when they *aren't* it could present a real problem for a multiplayer game.  For example, if I am riding a train and the train enters a tunnel, I will be disconnected from the network; what should happen to the game and the other players?

10) Improve the graphics overall, add animations, etc.
